SingTel tunes customers in to Mobile Karaoke More than 100 songs available for download by end 2003
SingTel mobile subscribers can now sing to their favourite karaoke songs on their mobile phones no matter where they are.
SingTel’s Mobile Karaoke service enables the playback of full-length songs on Java-supported mobile handsets with synchronised lyrics karaoke-style that prompt users to sing along.
The service is available to SingTel’s postpaid mobile subscribers at $4.16 (GST included) for each Mobile Karaoke download, which covers the licence fee for the song. Currently, models that support Mobile Karaoke are Motorola E380, Nokia 3650, and Sony Ericsson T610.
Mr Hui Weng Cheong, SingTel’s Vice-President (Consumer Products), said: “Fun and entertainment services have always been one of the critical drivers of mobile usage. We see Mobile Karaoke as an entertaining and innovative service that will appeal especially to the young and anyone who loves to sing. With the inclusion of some Christmas songs nearer to the festive period, we are confident that the service will be a hit at Christmas gatherings and parties.”
There will be more than 100 songs available by the end of 2003. These include English and Mandarin hits from artistes such as Celine Dion, John Mayer, Wong Lee Hom and Harlem Yu. The song list will double by year-end and up to 20 songs will be added to the list every month thereafter.
Two of SingTel’s regional mobile associates have also launched the Mobile Karaoke service. Advanced Info Service (Thailand) introduced the service in February this year, while Telkomsel (Indonesia) launched theirs just last month and has been seeing an average of about 1,700 downloads per day.
